Overall, Patrick’s Island Bistro is seen as a reliable and welcoming spot for visitors seeking good food and a relaxing atmosphere on Tancook Island.
I am giving this place 5 stars because for what it is, it delivers well. The food is basic - but tasty and reasonably priced for being on an island where everything must be taken over by boat! Lovely service, beautiful view, and very clean washroom. I encourage the owner to post a phone number so prospective clients can check in about changes in opening hours, or order in advance. He told us the phone number was online, but I think he is mistaken...
We took a day trip from Halifax to Big Tancook Island, and stopped at Patrick's Island Bistro for a late lunch before heading back to the ferry. After a day of walking all over the island, it was a welcome stop to rest and refuel. Between my husband, my little one and I, we shared bowls of chowder, a burger & fries and a beer smoked sausage on a bun with sauerkraut and grainy mustard. Huband had a beer and I had a glass of handmade lemonade. Husband and daughter loved the burger and the sausage was tasty and wonderfully spicy. The gentleman that served us (who I'm assuming is Patrick) also prepared our meals. He was very attentive and friendly. It's a tiny place with a tiny menu, but I'd recommend it anyone visiting the island.
We came for a day trip and was the only place to eat, he was very friendly and the food was great! He let us take the bikes so we didn't have to walk. Very helpful for info about the island. Will definitely stop back the next time we come here.
We decided to visit the island on a whim today with our kids and didn’t bring enough food, so we started feeling a bit anxious on the ferry. Luckily, as we walked up the hill, the little shop happened to be just opening—perfect timing! We ordered burgers, fries, and homemade ice tea—and wow, everything was way better than we expected! It wasn’t just because we were hungry; you could really taste the care and heart that Patrick put into preparing the food. We also got some ice cream, and Patrick even gave a small souvenir to each of our kids. It was such a kind gesture, and the whole experience turned into a beautiful family memory. Honestly, we might come back to the island just for Patrick’s handmade tea or those amazing burgers. Highly recommend!
Patrick’s is the place to go on Tancook for lunch and a beer. Amazing patio views of the ocean! Remember to bring cash. Patrick is incredibly kind and we will be back!
